Juupajoki Gorge – A Natural Wonder
Juupajoki Gorge is a 30-hectare nature reserve, shaped by the Ice Age. This untouched, up to 30-metre-deep ravine valley is home to a flowing river and a network of short nature trails that offer a glimpse into the gorge’s unique environment.
At the edge of the Koskenjalka Leather and Shoe Museum’s courtyard, set in a historic factory setting, the Korkeakoski waterfall cascades down into the valley.
Juupajoki Gorge is the area’s most famous natural attraction – and for good reason. Descending the steps from the car park into the ravine feels like stepping into another world. The noise of the outside world fades away, replaced by the gentle murmur of the river and birdsong. The fresh microclimate, lush greenery, and almost mystical atmosphere awaken the senses and spark the imagination.
